Science orgs plead for more funding for severe-weather preparation 2

More floods, storms, and droughts are a-comin', and the U.S. lacks funding to predict and prepare for 'em, say eight scientific organizations. The groups, including the American Geophysical Union and American Meteorological Society, made a plea Wednesday for Congress and the next U.S. president to double the current budget for climate research and forecasting between 2010 and 2014. "With more than a quarter of the U.S. gross national product sensitive to weather and climate events, these events substantially impact our national health, safety, economy, environment, transportation systems, and military readiness," says the document. "All 50 states are impacted by these events, and many of these events will be exacerbated by climate change." The organizations say $9 billion is needed to improve five areas: observation, computing power, research, educational and communication programs, and leadership, evaluation, and management. The U.S. needs better leadership? You don't say.

Whoops...Too bad for them. The only agencies getting more money these are the fear-mongers at the various police-state departments(NSA, CIA, etc.) and the Dep't of Death, er, "Defense". Hell, the National Park Service alone has about 6-8BUSD just in capital improvements and maintainence, let alone new acquisitions. This country is broke. We don't make enough value-added goods to keep our money from going out the door. Whoo-hoo, Second-world status here we come!

    Time To Eliminate the IPCC

The best thing government could do is to cut funding for the IPCC and put it out of existence.
Every single one of its "predictions" is dead wrong and would lead to countless wasted trillions of dollars.
The best advice for future climate changes is to figure out when the ice will melt from Northern Canada and buy a few acres near the Arctic Sea for a fabulous beach home.
Or, stake out a few plots in the southwest desert as it will soon be lush.
Either way, no rush -- we are entering the Century Of Super Abundance for All!
