For over two weeks I've been meaning to link to this post on public transit from Michael O'Hare and say something interesting about it. So as not to delay it indefinitely, I'm dropping the "say something interesting about it" requirement. Just go read it.

Michael O'Hare is great
Here's another article by him, from last year, "Subsidies are the wrong road to biofuels". Hard hitting is to put it mildly!

Transit yes, but 21st Century style
Most of these calls for "transit" are efforts to built 19th century style linear transportation systems in a multipoint grid world.
They can't work.
They make things worse.

yes, always have a book
I cannot stand this guy's style, and his admitted A+ personality type -- he richly deserves to be pushed onto the tracks -- , but he is right that fares should be lower. And he is right that you should never ever go anywhere without having something to read.
Chickens are our cousins! So are other sensitive animals! Enough is enough! No more factory farms!
