Prez race '08: Jolie v. Pitt

Brangelina argue over politics 7

Ever wonder what Brangelina fight about? Turns out it's Barack Obama.

From a super credible news source:

An insider close to the Pitt family said:

"They got into a huge fight about politics (Brad supports Barack Obama, while Angie's a John Edwards fan.) Brad ended up calling her immature. He says the next thing he knew, Angie was cursing at him and throwing a glass of wine in his face."

Brad, understandably, was speechless.

"He was left standing there with wine dripping down his face onto his clothes, before storming off to wash up and change. He says he was absolutely disgusted by Angelina's behavior."

In case you're wondering, Jennifer's an Obama gal. Could this spark a reconciliation?

Ah, ahem, well...why on Earth should we care?  Because People magazine says so?

Sense of humor peopleWhen I read comments like the above, I wonder if people truly get Grist. Just take a gander at our about page:
Let's face it: reading environmental journalism too often feels like eating your vegetables. Boiled. With no butter.

But at Grist, we believe that news about green issues and sustainable living doesn't have to be predictable, demoralizing, or dull. We butter the vegetables! And add salt! And strain metaphors!

We exist to tell the untold stories, spotlight trends before they become trendy, and engage the apathetic. We're fiercely independent in our coverage; we throw brickbats when they're needed and bestow kudos when they're warranted. And while we take our work seriously, we don't take ourselves seriously, because of the many things this planet is running out of, sanctimonious tree-huggers ain't one of them.
While there are definitely very serious issues that need to be addressed, which Grist does cover every day, I believe we're also here to lighten your day with some light green fun.

How do you define "fun"?I guess it all comes down to how you define it.  Is buying into the corporate media's slavish devotion to celebrity gossip "fun"?  I can understand how it can be to many people, given how much the msm saturates their daily lives with that meme.
I grew up on tv, so I'm not immune to that meme.  And I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone how they should define their idea of fun (at least as long as it doesn't melt the planet).
But, you know, I personally would prefer a certain amount of critical thinking here at Grist -- the ability to step back and analyze the culture rather than merely reproduce its more dysfunctional aspects (such as the rise of the Cult of the Celebrity).
Enough egghead stuff.  Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
