President Bush, on a trip to Saudi Arabia, has urged the key member of OPEC to boost oil production. "Oil prices are very high, which is tough on our economy," said Bush. "I would hope, as OPEC considers different production levels, that they understand that if ... one of their biggest consumers' economy suffers, it will mean less purchases, less gas and oil sold." Translation: We don't want to pay more, we don't want to seek alternatives -- we just need our fix, man! Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Nuaimi demurred, "We will raise production when the market justifies it."

Basic economics: when supply is down, demand goes up. And Bush whines to OPEC.
I guess no one's ever thought of reducing demand, huh?

Whew...I'm glad that's over.
Time for some cheap gas, V-8 engines and wild living.
Now, we don't have to listen to a bunch of Puritan Greens like Al Gore telling us to recycle our anti-freeze and tranny fluids.
I get my kicks on route 66.

And Bush doesn't quit calling the Saudis his friends and our allies. I would laugh about this theater of the absurd if it wasn't that serious.
The next president will inherit a very heavy burden, whoever that president will be.
