Rogers: cap-and-trade without corporate giveaways like ‘mafia’ 3

"This is just a money grab. Only the mafia could create an organization that would skim money off the top the way this legislation would skim money off the top."

-- Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers, on the Lieberman-Warner climate bill

Talking PointI've seen this in other places today, especially newspaper comment pages.  It must be the "talking point" for the day.

JamesI thought it was "James" Rogers.
Rogers is one of several industry CEOs calling for regulations that put a price on polluting carbon dioxide and Duke Energy is a member of U.S. CAP (United States Climate Action Partnership), a consortium of large corporations trying to influence policy.

Does bring speculation USCAP is merely a bunch of companies that want to shape/cripple greenhouse legislation so that it come out to their particular benefit.
Rather than actually coming up with an effective bill.

As for notable-quotables, I liked this one.

Rogers heads a company that generates 90 percent of its electricity from burning coal or nuclear power. So it's not surprising that he says that "coal is not a four-letter word!"

"Coal" actually is a four letter word :P

    Great slogan though.

Mafia?I find this quote not only unprofessional but offensive.
i have watched various debates with rogers in it.  He gets his head handed to him in one case by another ceo in the industry.
i have been around quite a few ceos, i truly find it hard to believe that he is effective.
