I suspect the ad will be very effective for those who make most decisions based mostly on feelings, which I think covers most people. That's one problem with ads. That's life.
I am also glad to see FOE present an opposing point of view to that of the EDF. This is healthy. I also suspect that inside any given organization, there are usually only a few individuals sharing a given point of view, but because of power dynamics, the consensus presented ends up being that of whoever wins the power struggle, be it FOE, the EDF, NRDC, the UCS, or whoever.
