Kristof for plug-in hybrids 2

Nicholas Kristof -- with whom I've taken issue in the past -- advocates on behalf of plug-in hybrids in his latest New York Times column.

I must say, it's passing strange to see issues once confined to greenie outposts suddenly flooding the mainstream press.

About TimeNice to see Kristof finally come around. Jumpstart Ford has been advocating plug-in hybrids for over a year and we've featured some folks locally who are making plug-ins go even farther with add-on technology (up to 100 mpg which is a goal for vehicles that Congress continues to say is impossible and will only occur down the road in the future).
Also, a great op-ed in Madison's Capital Times by Michael Brune about a 12 Step program to wean the U.S. off of oil.

I'm seeing a lot more press all overIt isn't exactly getting a lot of coverage in MSM yet, but anyone that is actually researching hybrids will come across some sort of mention of plug-ins.
What will really start getting the manufacturers on the ball is when the fleet buyers start insisting on plug-ins. I think Seattle really got their attention with their announcement a while ago.
