It's the end of the world as we know it ...

New ‘2012’ film trailer hints at eco-disaster themes 4

The trailer for the film 2012 -- due out next summer from the director of The Day After Tomorrow -- has hit the interwebs. It appears that the film may have some eco-disaster themes, but the plot details are pretty vague at this point. I do know the premise is based on the belief that the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012. (Ten days later, the Kyoto Protocol expires ... coincidence? I think not.)

What we needis a climate change equivalent of the old On the Beach or Fail Safe. The Day After Tomorrow and this 2012 are more of the genre of Godzilla Levels Tokyo. Remember that the original Godzilla was a thinly veiled attack on nuclear weapons. That is why it was heavily modified for the US market. It became camp and something people laughed at.
Exactly what we do not need to happen with climate change.

Well...Soylent Green seems to be a good candidate, though the camp level might be a little too high. Though I can't remember if the reason for the conditions present in the movie were the result of environmental distaster or a nuclear exchange.

I'll bet the effects will be great...With no substance to go with it. There are widely varying predictions for what, if anything, will happen in 2012. But I hardly think the oceans rising so high that they overtake the Himalayas. That would be funny.  Maybe it's water from all the melting glaciers everyone's worried about.
People are so dumb and gullible these days they will probably believe whatever Emerich tells them.

Ahhh!Well, this would certainly explain why the governments refuses to deal with Peak Oil, Climate Chaos, Bottle Deposits, corporate criminals, water depletion, population and bike paths.
