   Small is still profitableLovins and the RMI put out a massive (and oddly expensive) tome a while back called "Small is Profitable."  It's well worth getting if you can find it; and all university engineering libraries should have it.

   Depleation we have to worry about alsoWe got the Global Warming and Depleation.    From the oil drum, production of oil around the world is decreasing.   We'll see if this is part of the the oil peak, in may 2005.   Oil production is 1.2 million barrels/day less that the peak.

   Natural Gas will have it's peak also.   We should try to be as efficient as we can.

   most telling saudi arabiaOne interesting thing about the oil extration rate coming down was that it was also coming down in Saudi Arabia.  Have they reached their peak as well.
   That the main stream media has never reported on this.    At least I have never seen a report on this from anybody.   They talk about the human interest stories, nothing about the real physical world.
   Which is more disturbing.   That we maybe at Oil Peak or that nobody in the media is talking about it.

   Natural Capitalism
   
   This whole discussion of the benefits of CHP and efficiency is right on....
   Expanding beyond the energy sector, the best discussion of prying efficiency from industry in general is in "Natural Capitalism" by Paul Hawken -- check it out if you haven't already (I'm sure many of you already have...)
   Anyway the whole discussion is relevant to other discussions on this site (where the best comments come from Sean Casten, I believe) that argue for efficiency needing to be included in carbon trading or in renewable energy portfolio standards.
