After the announcement that An Inconvenient Truth had won for Best Documentary, director Davis Guggenheim made his way to the stage along with Al Gore, Laurie David, and others amidst a standing ovation from the crowd.
Here's what Guggenheim said:
I made this movie for my children ... All of us who made this film -- Laurie, Scott, and Leslie -- we did so because we were moved to act by this man [gesturing toward Gore] ... All of us were inspired by his fight for 30 years to tell this truth to all of us ...
Then he gave the mic to Gore:
Thank you. I want to thank Tipper and my family. I want to thank the Academy and everyone on this amazing team.
My fellow Americans ... [audience laughs]
People all over the world, we need to solve the climate crisis. It's not a political issue; it's a moral issue. We have everything we need to get started, with the possible exception of the will to act. That's a renewable resource -- let's renew it.

Remember 1992-2000?
When Gore did ZERO for the environment? Oh, wait. . he was merely VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! What could he do?
Clearly, as Cheney has illustrated, the VP has little sway.

But I LOVE Laurie David
She has more cred than any other Hollywood-exec - and ten times the soul.

Yeah....
during the 1990s oil was at its lowest price and the SUV craze took off and Gore did what for fuel-economy standards? I hear the crickets now. But wait, he's the savior don't you know? How dare I rain on the parade.

Al Gore: There's One Born Every...
Al Gore is the P.T. Barnum of the Green set. He figured out how to milk the entire planet of its wealth by creating pseudoscience and mass marketing it.
Luckily for him, the Green party is 99.9% Liberal arts majors who couldn't read a linear chart even if it were about the price of granola.

Looking forward to the Sequel, regardless
Sequel to his documentary will be much more pro-active. . . at which point I'll actually think about voting for him if he runs in 08 (which he won't - leaving us with?)
Info on the sequel is

Sour Grapes.
Oh you poor bitter souls. Here is something to think about. You will never, in your entire, cynical little lives, do for the planet what Gore has done.
I voted for Nader in 2000. I never missed an opportunity to trash Al. But the man is second only to perhaps Jimmy Carter, as someone who has risen from defeat, and now is far ahead of the person who beat him, in public esteem.
Eat your heart out, losers.

Mis-guided
You guys are ripping Gore rather than discussing climate change. Which makes you nothing more than practicioners of diversion, just like the weasels that got us in this mess and delayed action in the first place. I for one applaud Gore and laud the US for its inaction.

the truth
obviously, MtnButterfly has no idea what he/she is talking about. True, they're ripping Al Gore, but that's only because HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE HECK HE IS TALKING ABOUT!!! Al Gore has done NOTHING for this country, or this world, as far as the "global warming" situation goes.
