Good for Angela Merkel:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel named confronting climate change as her country's top priority as leader of the Group of Eight (G8) nations next year and will also use Germany's weight as president of the EU to push for the reduction of energy use at the same time.

Somebody give that lady a backrub!

    Once again budget devouring Eurocrats have a way and means to keep funding for endless "conferences".   End global warming?  How about cutting off the perrier and fondue for academic free-wheelers?  That would cut CO2 emissions from their gobs by at least 70 percent.
    I mean seriously -- what is there to talk about?   It's a simple logic tree.
    1. Is the earth's climate warming?
    A.  Yes, go to question 2.

    B.  Enjoy your Escalade.
    2. Is the warming manmade
    A.  Stop driving and stay at home.

    B.  Enjoy your Escalade.
    See -- no conference necessary.
