Mamma Mia! Broadway is going green. Inspired by An Inconvenient Truth, producer David Stone (who recently greened his hit musical Wicked) met with other Broadway big-wigs and the folks at NRDC in an effort to get the theater industry singing a more sustainable tune.

There may be five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes in a year, but how much of a difference could this greening make? Well, they say the neon lights are bright on Broadway ... In addition to swapping in CFLs, ideas shared at the meeting included reducing paper use, increasing recycling efforts, and incorporating the use of electric timers.

    Not Likelyi work for the largest owner of theatre's in new york city , there is no recycling , either of plastic or paper , think about all the drinks and water bottle just being tossed in the garbage . there is no seperate recycling palce for all the waste paper , light on in the theatres and offices when there is no one there . even the computers we use are 10-15 years old , very inefficient . all the cleaning products used are terrible (but cheap!) , and this from the artsy intelligent crowd . stricly bottom line.

    By CreditsDo the typical neogreen thing, don't take any effort, just buy carbon credits then tell us you are green.

    Or does Broadway really want to make a factual difference?
