Remember how the U.S. EPA was instructed by the U.S. Supreme Court to decide whether carbon dioxide should be regulated as a pollutant? And how that was more than a year ago? A senior EPA official said in a speech this week that "given the time frame available to the agency, it's not realistic" to expect that the EPA will make that decision before the Bush administration ends. Such a bummer that time's running out, because you know they really wanted to.

Time is of the essence, but better to wait a few months and get some real work done rather than have some piecemeal rules be the foundation of the regulations.

There are only two solutions I can think of. The first and most preferable would be a major human evolution to where people are no longer concerned with money and power. The other would be at least a realization by the large majority, including those in the militaries and police forces that is not the ruling class that the rich are screwing everyone else and the planet, so that the ruling class loses its state control.
