DNC: She's not in Kansas anymore

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on bringing green to the heartland, and the rest of the country 3

Sadly, I missed Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius giving her speech Tuesday evening. Here are some excerpts from the full text.

"Millions of Americans are proud to make their homes in rural communities, where values are deeply-rooted and passed down, like the family farm, from generation to generation. Too many in Washington are willing to write off these communities as part of an America of the past.

But not Barack Obama. He'll help us revitalize rural America by harnessing our natural assets, creating "green jobs" and linking the heartland to America's future. Barack Obama knows it's time for tax breaks for America's main streets not Wall Street. But not John McCain. He believes in country-club economics. He wants more tax cuts for big corporations, while giving only a third of the middle-class tax relief that Barack Obama will deliver.

And later in the speech:

We know that the fuel for our future can be found in the grasses and crops that grow, year after year, on our fertile prairies. The energy for tomorrow is there in the clean, renewable power of the steady winds that blow across our fields. Investing in American energy will create 5 million green jobs-jobs that will revitalize many of our rural communities. Jobs that can never be outsourced to a foreign supplier.

She also got in a dig at McCain: "I'm sure you remember a girl from Kansas who said there's no place like home. Well, in John McCain's version, there's no place like home. And a home. And home. And home."

"Aunty Em!" (bang bang down with foot)Good for Governor Sebelius.  Let her go back to Kansas, and do good things.
But her compliance with the typical, ancient, morbid two-dimensional idea of her state, as basically a minimally alive two-dimensional rectangle, lying ready for the exploiters, is simply deplorable.  The animals and plants of Kansas are not pleased.
To say nothing of us genuine "friends of Dorothy," whom you might think our true friends would call out to, happily, whenever and wherever.

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.

"Grasses and crops"Yet again, we hear this talking point for cellulosic ethanol.  Dissappointing.
We were told by an organizer last night, the specific policies will need to go through congress.  Try to stick to values when talking to prospective voters.  Direction, the better direction obama can take US in.
When I mentioned I am in the environmentalist camp he politely moved on, hehey.
The message is clear, environmentalists stay general, don't debate the fine points.  Shut up about that boring stuff only experts and lobbyists understand and get with the program.  We have an election o win, and a world to save.

"Sadly missed" her speech? ... well ..I do appreciate the good governor's efforts to "green" Kansas ... but boy is she an uninspiring speaker. Or at least she was last night.
I'm nervous now.  If we are counting on 'firebrands' like Gov. Sebelius to rouse masses of Americans against the cabal of corrupt, self-serving swine that currently control the White House and the Executive Branch of government, we could be waiting a long, long time.
There's been enough incompetence, corruption, and lying by the Bush Adminstration to piss off honest citizens for a lifetime.  I'd like to hear a little more outrage, and a little less polite talk.  Time to take off the gloves.
