   What next?Such a paradigm shift (sorry for using that term) would make the world an exciting place to live.  Finally problem solving and cooperation would be the mainstays of science and life in general.  Unfortunately it is hard to see an end to the "me first" society that liberal democracy has created.  If we somehow rebuild "community" maybe people won't retreat to their McMansions(tm) and cable television.

   So it would make sense to tax pollution,and waste, particularly products that are not easily recyclable, or any other good or service that has a cost after use

   Green prosperity...for all?Herman's eloquent allusion to resource depletion taxes (and allowances) raises another question?
   How can we restructure all taxation to efficiently and equitably build a truly sustainable economy? Alaska taxes oil and refunds the dividends to Alaskans. Yet it urges more drilling! Taxing land higher than buildings redevelops in central areas...like in Harrisburg, PA. Read TAX SHIFT by Allan Durning!
