Governator proposes tax on California oil drilling 2

As part of a package aimed to address California's $11.2-billion budget deficit, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday proposed a 9.9 percent tax per barrel on oil drilled in the state. The proposal, a flip-flop from the Governator's opposition of a similar measure that failed two years ago, immediately garnered the ire of oil companies and Republicans and applause from Democrats and environmentalists.

Good idea!Welcome to the sunny side of the street, Arnold. It just smacks of intelligence and sanity to tax the thing that is causing the problem in the first place!

altrrnative energyI really like Arnold..............and There should be no shame in taxing big oil. They have been sucking us dry....
    Unfortunately.......
they will pass this on to us.
All I can say beyond that is Good Luck to California.....It would have been better to vote money in to help with alternative energy.
The wind mills near Mojave and the solar energy mirrors at Hwys 58 and 395 in the desert are a start.
Hopefully our country is on an up swing. and we can really find new ways to keep our energy up cleanly and good jobs making it happen. Not corn but the Hydrogen car has merit (right on Arnold)
