After all that hubbub over houses a few weeks ago, Newsweek decided to look into the vehicle-registration records for the McCain and Obama families and find out how many cars they own. The final count? McCain: 13. Obama: 1.

McCain's fleet includes three 2000 GEM electric vehicles and the Prius that his daughter Meghan drives. There are also nine other less planet-friendly cars, including a half-ton pickup and a GMC SUV. Huffington Post has a slideshow.

The Obamas own a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid. Newsweek reports that they got rid of their previous car, a Chrysler 300C sedan, last year "after taking heat for driving a guzzler while haranguing Detroit about building more fuel-efficient cars."

    If you can Afford Em Buy EmThis is America and we can own as many cars as we want to. Its not like he drives them all at the same time in one day.  You can only drive one car at a time.

    Convert themIt's the only thing most people can afford.  Convert economy cars to plugin hybrid.
    This energy revolution has been reduced to do-it-yourself mode.
    Unless Obama gets in and convinces oil demand reduction from conservation for a couple years, the capital to do any sort of large scale industrial energy revolution won't be available.
