   Other factors...In Atlanta's case, I imagine the historic drought might play a factor as well.  Atlanta also recently began a number of new urbanistic and urban infill projects, which might've affected the suburban sprawl rate.
   But if the housin' slump causes similar drops (or even just smaller ones) in other metro areas, then we have to be thankful for at least.
   Every cloud has a silver outline, and this could be one of 'em.

   Temporary Halt To SprawlUnfortunately, the housing market is cyclical, so when it heats up again Atlanta, along with all other places, will continue to destroy open space with sprawl.  It's a matter of "when," not "if."
