Thought the Olympics might bring some reprieve from election season? Think again. Today Barack Obama rolled out his $5 million ad campaign that will run during Olympic coverage on NBC, focusing on a clean energy economy.
"The hands that built this nation can build a new economy," says the ad, as it shows images of people working on solar panels, wind farms, and other eco-friendly projects. It repeats the candidate's pledge to create 5 million green jobs, and pledges to "fast-track alternative fuels."
"Barack Obama: A new vision for our economy," it continues. "Because America's future is in our hands." Watch it:
Not to be outdone, John McCain is dropping $6 million to run an ad during the games as well.

No real reference to how much Federal spending McCain wants to kick into Nuclear/CCS though. Although in the LiebermanWarner bill he was arguing for $500 Billion.

In the accompanying shot, was that a Prius being built? In a cartoon that I recently saw, as a kind of parody of the classic eco-prankster bumper sticker to be surreptitiously stuck onto an SUV, "I'm destroying the planet! Ask me how!," a Prius is shown bearing the bumper sticker, "I'm destroying the planet too!, only not so fast."
Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.
