Ag subsidies 1

I've long thought that massive U.S. agricultural subsidies are a disaster -- environmentally, economically, socially, [your adverb here].

Over on the Environmental Economics blog, an expert (Prof. Bruce Gardner) discusses the issue in a somewhat more nuanced way, but doesn't say anything to dissuade me.

    Misplaced Priorities in Ag SubsidiesFarm policies in this country aren't designed to help farmers, the environment or consumers. Despite spending billions on these subsidies, we're losing thousands of family farms every year. Meanwhile, programs to help farmers restore critical habitat are severely under funded.
