A bad sign for Dingell?

Panel recommends Waxman over Dingell for energy committee 1

Muckraker: Grist on Politics

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) has scored a few points in his battle to unseat John Dingell (D-Mich.) from his chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. This morning, the House Steering and Policy Committee voted 25-22 to recommend Waxman for the post.

But the vote that really matters comes tomorrow, when the full Democratic caucus weighs in on the matter. Enviros will be watching the vote closely, as the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee will play a lead role in crafting climate and energy legislation next year.

Go Waxman - US emissions beginning to fall :)Kate,

Yeah, here's hoping Dems vote for change and usher in progressive climate/energy policy via Waxman! I'm psyched that US GHG emissions are poised to fall 2+% in 2008. Waxman can help our economic recovery be based on energy efficiency and low-carbon energy to keep emissions sliding down. As I blogged today at setenergy.org, it's gonna take some serious public pressure to pass strong climate legislation in 2009 even if Waxman wins and Dems get to 60 Senators...

We'll see what we can do-
