Snow big deal

Skeptics hope D.C. snow will put the freeze on Gore’s testimony 1

Muckraker: Grist on Politics

The nation’s capital is currently in the grips of Snowpacalypse ‘09 (meaning, in D.C. parlance, we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground).

Climate skeptics are already giddy about the fact that a) clearly this demonstrates that global warming is a ginourmous lie; and b) it may mean Al Gore’s scheduled testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee tomorrow gets put on hold.

To wit, today on Drudge:Gore hearing on warming may be put on ice…

AnecdotesIt is merely an anecdote, that D.C. is taking a wintry beating as Al Gore is due in town.
But anecdotes work, just as do public relations and advertising, logical or not.
This one PR-fiasco will not up-end Al Gore, but each does erode a bit more of his political capital.
The recent Pew survey showing a low priority for global warming with the public can be seen as the effects of a few too many anecdotes over the last year or two.
