More later...I should hope so.  There are many who do not view this as a shining example of Change. The issue is support for unending subsidies and factory farms... all of the issues that make environmentalists and family farm advocates feel queasy in their stomach.
Others are not so sure.  Make sure to look at these comments at the Center for Rural Affairs. A pretty unbiased reading.
The Center was writing / publishing more recently about U. of Nebraska Regent, Chuck Hassebrook.

Vilsack and the USDAI think the appointment a bit disappointing. Vilsack is a beard for Monsanto and its supporters at BIGMAP. Might as well have appointed him as Secretary of Agribusiness or a Secretary of Monoculture.
Will Vilsack support a ban on Terminator Technology? Will he support labeling of GE seeds and plants? Will he allow seed purveyors to maintain contractual bans on seed saving?
We'll see, but I'm not hopeful.
