Between Salazar, Vilsack, LaHood, and Warren, Obama really peed in the ol’ cornflakes today.

Obama's Genius is hi Centrist ideals and the realization that the environment and agriculture is a continuum.
as I have said many times, we're not going to feed the world with a roto tiller, hoe and Rodales Guide to Organic Gardening, neither can we ignore or own sources of oil and natural gas and the need to keep our economy going.
the extremist positions found on Grist are simply to far on the continuum and thankfully Obama has more sense then that to realize its better to make some progress then to push an agenda that is unlikely to succeed.

PoliticsDoes this really come as a surprise to anyone? The first thing he had to do was piss off the ultra-leftists. Now his centrist cred is established and folks from all parts of the ol' spectrum will work with him. This is not genius, it's just politics.

Not everyone is an environmentalistAs president-elect Obama has to appeal to more people than environmentalists. Some of his picks aren't as great as we would like, but it's just politics.
I am waiting to see how Obama's picks perform. I'm expecting a lot of good but not perfection.

A Clinton third-term...or a Jimmy Carter fourth, however you perceive it.  The question, or potential, with Obama was, will he pull an FDR if the country is in bad enough shape?  He has always been centrist, and he won't go progressive unless pushed -- unless circumstances push him, although even FDR had a very powerful Left in the 1930s to contend with.
We shall see what his policies are.

He's not pissing on the Left......he just doesn't care.  The only time during the election that he said that his campaign was working was when Rachel Maddow interviewed him, and she was criticizing him from the Left (can't remember the topic), and he smiled and said, "But it's working".  In other words, I'll dialogue with the center and the right, but the left should just shut up (he might throw a bone for the Department of Labor, as Clinton did).
I'm not saying that he should get complete and total criticism, we should still see what he does, but progressives should never, ever give unconditional support to anybody.
