If you’re not worried about melting permafrost, you should be 1

“If we lost just 1 percent of the carbon in permafrost today, we’d be close to a year’s contributions from industrial sources. I don’t think policymakers have woken up to this. It’s not in their risk assessments.”

—Permafrost expert Chris Burn of Carleton Universiy

It's already happening. failin palin the quitter should understand more than anyone, considering that Alaska is currently suffering from the effects of climate change more so than any other state in the nation. It's permafrost is vanishing at a rapid pace. Houses are sinking, roads are buckling, rail lines splitting. We are on a freight train to hell. We are already at 387 parts per million of CO2. The UN nobling wants to reign it in to 350. I applaud their innocence.By the time, if ever, we as a world get green house gases under control, we will be well over 400 parts. More likely 500.  We are slated for at least a 2 degree rise before the end of the century with the latest models more accurately predicting a 4 degree rise. Trying to save 1% of the permafrost is a pipe dream.Sometime around 2025-2030 I see negative feed back occuring in ernest. At that point, we are done.Civilization as we currently know it, will be vastly different by the end of this century. The best you can hope for is to move north. I'm half way through my life. I live in Texas, I would love to move, but the financial reality is, I can't.To paraphrase Horace Greeley, "go north young man".  Or as I say, "the north is for the young".
