Rep. Michele Bachmann says CO2 is ‘a natural byproduct of nature’ 5

We’ve heard Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) rant about cap-and-trade in the past. Last week, on Earth Day, she attempted a scientific explanation of why carbon dioxide is not a problem. “Carbon dioxide is a natural byproduct of nature!” she said.

Carbon dioxide is natural. It occurs in Earth. It is a part of the regular lifecycle of Earth. In fact, life on planet Earth can’t even exist without carbon dioxide. So necessary is it to human life, to animal life, to plant life, to the oceans, to the vegetation that’s on the Earth, to the, to the fowl that — that flies in the air, we need to have carbon dioxide as part of the fundamental lifecycle of Earth.

It gets better: “There isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.”

Thanks to Wonk Room for posting, complete with bonus rebuttal from Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.):

Yeah, Bachmann never was so great at descibing reality.

http://greyfalcon.net/carbon2As for the Oregon representative, he's a bit behind the times.
It's not our data doesn't just go back 650,000
We now got it all the way back to 800,000

Sometimes I'm not sure which is more insulting. The fact that her understanding of reality/logic is so simplified, or that there are people out there who believe her.

If it is that harmless, then let's ramp up the production of CO2, for the sake of humankind!  Please...It's just amazing that she doesn't understand that something in small concentrations (her infamous 3% of 3%) can have a dangerous impact.  She probably wouldn't believe that a tiny amount of botulism can kill a shockingly large number of people.
She's doing her job to cast doubt.  That's the only thing she knows how to do.
And it kills me that this nitwit of a person represents my state of Minnesota, though she thankfully doesn't represent my district!

Do not worry about CO2, its days are numbered.  I am going to solve this product one and for all.  Check me out at twitter

I suggest that Congresswoman Bachmann demonstrate for her constituents how natural and clean carbon dioxide is by locking herself in an airtight box for a very long time.
